The Road Runner Returns!

The road runner came back! He knew I wasn't happy with the first photos and let me get pretty close to him. I'm not sure what you feed a road runner though. Do they like Milk Bones?!

Life in my Desert 'Hood and Daisy

A typical Monday morning at my house. Everyone is busy at work. Nestle is begging for her 10 am treat when 10:00 is still a ways away. And the local 'hood road runner is in our front yard. Daisy stayed on the couch in the living room where her ears went back as soon as I pulled out the camera. She has serious self esteem issues stemming from the fact that she still thinks she is 25 pounds and not the 75 she morphed into. We finally had the walls repaired where she had left marks from running into them and she seems to have finally stopped attempting to walking under tables that she can now rest her nose on top of.

The World According to Hattie

Joe bought the globe at the flea market and blew it up and threw it in the pool. Today, Hattie went for a swim with the globe although I admit she was a little annoyed with me for taking so many photos. We think we wore her out so she was happy to lay on the raft and rest for awhile. And Nestle went swimming with her, of course.

Centennial Beach and Riverwalk Flooding

Naperville had over six inches of rain. My house was not affected. While I live by the river, I am across from it and on a hill. My neighbors across the street, who back up to the river, told me last night that the river isn't going up but isn't really coming down yet. It appears not to have reached any of the houses. This morning I ran down on the Riverwalk and then took some photos. The water has receded some but you can see where it is still overflowing from the river onto the Riverwalk and over into the beach.

Flooding and Ginger's Long Day

We've had at least five inches of rain here in Naperville. The photos are taken from the park across the street from my house. Those trees that are under water normal are in the middle of the park. The family came over last night and Ginger was worn out by the time everyone was leaving. She hadn't shown interest in the big white dog before but last night he was her best friend and she refused to leave him alone. I'm sure it had something to do with Karen's Morgan being over– Ginger was probably afraid Morgan would steal the dog for her own like Morgan took off with several other toys.

Going back to high school for the weekend

A high school classmate of mine, Bart Smith, came into Naperville for the Class of '88 reunion (I was in the Class of '90). We went to football practice yesterday at Naperville North (our school) and let Bart admire his photo on the wall in the athletic department. He was quite the hurdler and football player in his day. Today we went over to our crosstown rival to see our former track (and my former cross country coach) Marty Bee who is the athletic director there now. That's me with him above. Tonight it's off to the football game!
